Learn & Love!

sunflowerDear Friends,

Hello, hope all is well

Watching yesterdays press conference introducing Michigans new head football coach, Brady Hoke, found self moved by Coach Hokes ego free declaration, I would have walked here by foot from San Diego, that’s how energized he is about Michigan!

Now, reflecting that here in BollyFit, so blessed to enjoy each and every Student and Student who Guides, dancing together…driving in from (short and long) days and distances, discovering selves along the way.  Oh, yes, some even walking in

So, why does each drive, dance…dream?

Love 2 learn more about u and why u dance!  Yes, moments in class create connections and, yes, first impressions are important.  But as Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon said yesterday, Two to three hours with an individual can tell you much more.  So much to learn from each other and share!

Sometimes clock time is hard to come by though, so from time to time, lets share stories from within, in own words, in no particular order and synergize together  Welcome to “Learn and Love!”

Today, heres BollyFit student and Guide, Ziva, as she shares excitement about discovering BollyFit after moving back to her home state of Michigan.  Zivas love for the program and intense desire to dance, reputation as a supportive co-student and twinkling teacher hearten my heart.  Every interaction we have exudes passionately positive energy, an open appreciative spirit.  As am w/each student and student who Guides, energized to have her among us.  Here’s a note for u, from Ziva.

Dear Bollyfit Friends,
Hello everyone and Happy New Year!! I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to you all for welcoming me to this new area and to Anuja and all the BollyFit dancers for dancing with me side by side, hand in hand, shimmy to shimmy.  I am very excited to be a part of the BollyFit community, to learn and grow with all of you and share our collective joy of dance as well.  In the few months I have been in MI, I want to say how amazed I am at the camaraderie and dedication you all have… and ultimately how awesome everyone is dancing! The spirit of joy and dancing with the heart truly shines in BollyFit.
I want to thank everyone for the hugs, smiles, conversation, charitable donations, house parties, performances, and shimmies.  I hope and pray that as I begin to guide I can maintain the wonderful, inviting atmosphere BollyFit provides.  I truly believe that everyone can and should dance! And that no matter where you are in life the gift of expressive movement is in each and every one of us!

I want to reach out to all of you for your help , advice, feedback, and guidance as we dance together and as I begin to guide.  I teach not only to share my passion for dance, but I teach to learn from others as well as I continue to grow on my own journey of life.  Please, please always let me know if you have questions, concerns, comments in class, as well as out.  I am here to help in any way I can to make your BollyFit and Belly BollyFit experience as joyful and beneficial as possible.  Hugs and Blessings to you all this New Year! I know it is going to be a great one… and in the words of Anuja, Go get em, and mine,When in Doubt… Shimmy!
Hugs and Blessings,
Ziva

Interesting note 2 note:  In addition to being a BollyFit All You Can Dance Student, Ziva gleefully Guides BollyFit Belly on Saturdays, 9:15 AM -10:15 AM @Dakota Bldg. in Ann Arbor, and Choreation on Thursdays, 8:20 PM @Dakota Bldg., in Ann Arbor.

Flying Abounds

sky

Heaven’s Flyers
Some say they don’t believe
That Angels can be seen or heard.
What a shame such blindness
What a pity such deafness
When the Song of Songs abounds
And Heaven’s flyers are all around…
Only thinly disguised…as birds.

Dear BollyFit Family,
I thought I would share with you that today, January 6, is the fourteenth anniversary of the passing of my amazing older sister, Rachana.  Rachana was 27 years old when a tractor-trailer collided into the car she was driving near Cary, North Carolina.  Rachanas beloved feathered friend, Mango, was also in the vehicle.

As many are aware, Rachana is a part of my being.  Together with our eldest sister, Archana, we danced and enjoyed many-an-adventure together from childhood onward, giggling along the way.  It was ten years after the accident that dancing again dawned within me.  Less a conscious choice to stop dancing those years, more so a postpartum awakening within, that allowed fluidity to flow.

I know that all of us experience transitions of loved ones; today am reflecting on Rachanas effervescence and that of all who are dear to us all, energizing and flowing throughout.

In 1999, to honor Rachana and her love of nature and animals, an endowment was established on the campus of Michigan State University that designates a beautiful 78 acre space “Baker Woodlot/Rachana Rajendra Neotropical Migrant Bird Sanctuary”.  In case you are ever in the area and looking for a space for pure photography, a nap under a tree, or a weightless walk (bikes are parked outside to maintain purity of the space), the website with more about Rachana and the Sanctuary is here.
Thanks and Dancing with you Now…
xoxo
